Omnicef (cefdinir)
Omnicef is effective against middle ear infection caused by sensitive bacteria (otitis media), tonsils (tonsillitis), throat, larynx (laryngitis), bronchi (bronchitis), lungs (pneumonia), skin and soft tissue.
Capsules or can be taken to suspend or without food. Omnicef is taken once or twice a day, according to the nature and severity of the infection. Patients with kidney disease may need to take a lower dose, to prevent accumulation of cefdinir since it is removed from the body through the kidneys. The recommended dose for children 6 months to 12 years to 7 mg / kg every 12 hours or 14 mg / kg / day for 5-10 days, depends on the infection. For most infections once daily dose is as effective as twice daily, taken once a day, although not as dose for the treatment of skin infections and pneumonia. The usual dose for adults is infected with 300 mg or 600 mg every 12 hours daily for 5-10 days, depending on the nature and severity of the infection.
Cephalosporin family includes tsefaleksina (head hold streptozotocin IV), Tsefaklor (Ceclor), cefuroxime (Zinacef), tsefpodoksym (Vantin), cefixime (Suprax), cefprozil and many injectable antibiotics. Omnicef is active against a broad spectrum of bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes (strep throat that caused); Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella , Proteus, and Mirabilis. Like other cephalosporins cefdinir stops bacteria from multiplying by blocking the formation of the wall around the bacteria to them. This is not a positive for Pseudomonas. This is the U.S. FDA approved in December 1997. Omnicef is a semi-synthetic (some people), oral cephalosporin family of antibiotics. Bacteria can not survive without cell walls. Walls need to protect the bacteria from the environment and save the contents of bacterial cells together. Treatment with cefdinir include otitis media (middle ear infection), soft tissue infections, respiratory tract infections.
