Drug Name Nexium (esomeprazole)
Drug UsesIt can also be used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis (damage to your esophagus caused by stomach acid). Nexium is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions associated with hyperacidity, such as Cho - Ellison syndrome. Nexium reduces the number of acid produced in the stomach.
Nexium may also be considered to prevent gastric ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), to or use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).
How to useNexium in the doctor's instructions.
- Nexium by mouth with or without food.
- Can at the same time each day.

Drug Class and Mechanism It is by reducing production of acid in the stomach. Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor.
Missed DoseIf it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missing dose of medication, take the next regular time. Do not put extra medicine to make up for missing doses. To missing doses as long as you remember.
StorageNexium out of reach to keep away from children and pets. Nexium stored at room temperature, 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit (20 and 25 degrees C). Keep away from heat, humidity and light.
Warnings/Precautions Nexium with caution. It is not known if Nexium is in breast milk. Make sure your doctors and laboratory personnel know that the use of esomeprazole. Do not move or perform tasks, other may not be safe until you know your response to this. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Nexium while you are pregnant. These effects may be worse if you take it with alcohol or certain drugs.
Nexium should be used with caution in Asian patients may increase the risk of side effects in these patients.
Important: - Nexium may cause drowsiness or dizziness. Do not use Nexium if:
- You are allergic to ingredients in Nexium or any similar drugs (eg omeprazole);
- You are taking HIV protease inhibitors (such as Atazanavir).

- Nexium may have other tests.
